Endpapers with a chess theme

Ralf Binnewirtz of Meerbusch, Germany, and webmaster for the Ken Whyld Association, www.kwabc.org , has sent details of further chess books with pictorial endpapers.

The front and rear endpapers show an engraving of a blindfold simultaneous exhibition by Louis Paulsen, during the Chess Congress at Düsseldorf in 1862, held at the Geisler'sche Rittersaal, Schadowstraẞe. The engraving is based on a drawing by the Düsseldorf artist Gustav Süs.
